I. RESCHEDULING OF MATCHES
PARTICIPATION IN VSL CARRIES THE RESPONSIBILITY TO ABIDE BY THE LEAGUE SCHEDULE, PLAYING ALL SCHEDULED MATCHES, AS SCHEDULED, UNLESS COMPELLING REASONS EXIST TO RESCHEDULE. PARTICIPATION IN STATE CUP IS ENCOURAGED AND WITH PROPER NOTIFICATION, WILL TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER LEAGUE MATCHES.
A. Normally, no requests for reschedules or opt out weekends due to tournament participation or non-league play (with the exception of state cup) shall be allowed. Tournament participation or opt out weekends will be decided by the Board of Directors and club representatives when approving game structure for the season. Any team forfeiting matches to participate in a tournament or non-league play will be fined $500.00 and referee’s fees for the match, which will be awarded to the offended team. Amended (08.10.06)
B. Two types of conditions may warrant rescheduling of a league match - emergency conditions and/or legitimate outside activities as specified below. In these circumstances, requests to reschedule league matches shall be made in writing to the VSL Administrator at least one week (7 calendar days), or as soon as possible in the case of an emergency, prior to the scheduled match.
1. Inability to field 11 players due to emergency conditions as follows:
a. Illness such as chicken pox, measles, food poisoning or other similar conditions affecting several team members. Note: Injuries, vacations, recreational activities or other team activities are not just cause for rescheduling matches.
b. Death of a team member or team official
c. Other emergency conditions at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
2. Inability to field 11 players due to legitimate outside activities such as:
a. School activities such as organized trips or standardized testing such as PSAT or SAT testing.
b. Religious Ceremonies, such as confirmation, or bar mitzvah that includes several team members.
c. Other legitimate activities at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
C. Matches canceled due to weather, state cup participation, canceled with proper notification and approval or canceled due to referee no show shall be rescheduled as follows:
1. The VSL Administrator shall reschedule the match and contact the club representative with information about the date, time and place for the rescheduled match. In the case of a time or field change within three (3) days of the match, the administrator may contact the team directly. The Administrator shall attempt to accommodate the schedules of each team, but shall be responsible for rescheduling the match.
2. The teams may by mutual consent, agree to not reschedule the match in which case no points will be awarded and the game will be recorded as not played. Decisions not to reschedule the match must be made within seven (7) days of the original cancellation. When mutual consent cannot be reached, the game shall be rescheduled. Any team failing to field a team or choosing to forfeit a rescheduled match shall be subject to the penalties outlined in Failure to Field A Team, Section IX.
